I really want to start a new life. Suggestions/advice?

I'm 24, been working corporate **** last couple years, have a degree in Business. I really want to move out of Chicago, been here 12 years. I want to travel, see different cultures, do something exciting, etc. I'm sure I'm not alone. But wondering what people can tell me? What can I do? Is there a job for me to accomplish that?I really want to start a new life. Suggestions/advice?
Your not alone in your desire to travel. The good news is you are doing this at a relative young age, and can always come back to your career. You may even decide to do something else entirely.

There comes a question of money, do you have enough to travel then food, lodging, ect. Also a question of comfort, are you comfortable staying in hostels or small venue hotels? If so then, sit down and really think about the places you want to visit, and then do some research, look at the places where you can stay, and budget, budget, budget. Unfortunately the dollar is rather week in Europe and some places in Asia so you may want to consider other parts of the world.

Also do you own a home or condo? Think about exchanging your place with someone overseas who wants to visit and live in the states for a bit, but proceed with caution with this step.

If money is not as abundant as you would like at this present moment then consider becoming a flight attendant. While they do work, flight attendants get to see the world and they get to do it free or on the cheap. Call all the major airlines in your area and get info on their next trainee classes.

After being a flight attendant for a some years you can always keep it as a second career on the back burner only flying a number of times per year. I have a number of friends that do it and they love it. One was going to medical school and he wanted to switch in life. Now he is traveling internationally and loves it. You can also put in where you would like to be stationed NYC, LA, Miami, Atlanta, SF, where ever the airline has a hub.

Also consider teaching English in a foreign country, although this practice is more popular in eastern Europe and the far east as opposed to western Europe where many people already speak several languages. You should ask for lodging and expense budget.

Since you have a business degree you may also want to look into international business, but that would involve working with a global conglomerate where you can travel from country to country. You would probably have to specialize in something or another.

I would start putting feelers out there just to get the energy moving and be positive. Once you get clear on what you want have Faith/Belief that everything is working out your way, and trust me it will. I speak from experience.

Get clear about what you want, the end result and stick with it all the details will come. Create yourself a good life, you deserve it!I really want to start a new life. Suggestions/advice?
Join the military.
You could join the Merchant Marine or the Peace Corps.
The first answer is great! My husband is in the USN (navy) and so has my father and grandfather. My husband is only 24 and has already been to Scotland, Japan, Hawaii, Singapore, Guam, Italy, Burmuda, Spain, not to mention we've been stationed out of southern Georgia, Seattle, and now we're going to San Diego! He is never bored with his job and has made some great friends, and the benefits are wonderful, too! Talk to a recuiter. You'll start a new life while serving your great country, which is a feeling that's indescribable.
Do not join the military. What about the peace corps? You'll get to travel, plus you will get to really give back to the world in a positive way. Plus it so anti-corportate America. Or if you have enough money saved, see if your job will allow a leave of absence. You could travel, maybe do volunteer work either here or abroad. Good luck - you really are living the American dream - you're young, why be stuck behind a desk - you are going to have the rest of your life to work.
Suicide is the best way.

NOT. Just kidding. You really can do anything you're a free person. Just set your mind to the things you want and in no time you'll see doing them.

  • Advice for getting a new car with bad credit?

What are some steps i need to take to purchase a used car i need a new car but my credit is shot any advice would be great!

(besides the obvious of saving up for a big down payment)

is financing a bad idea?Advice for getting a new car with bad credit?
A co-signer would help somewhat and as for the rest...

Whether you buy a used car from a dealer, a co-worker, or a neighbor, follow these tips to learn as much as you can about the car:

Examine the car yourself using an inspection checklist. You can find a checklist in many of the magazine articles, books and Internet sites that deal with buying a used car.

Test drive the car under varied road conditions - on hills, highways, and in stop-and-go traffic.

Ask for the car's maintenance record. If the owner doesn't have copies, contact the dealership or repair shop where most of the work was done. They may share their files with you.

Talk to the previous owner, especially if the present owner is unfamiliar with the car's history.

Have the car inspected by a mechanic you hire.

You can find out a used car's history, which is a must if you're buying a used car that is not certified, by logging on to www.carfax.com.Advice for getting a new car with bad credit?
Getting a co-signer would probably be your best bet unless you want to get slapped on with a sky high interest rate. See what the dealership is willing to offer you first and then shop around to see if you can find other financial institutions who are willing to offer you a lower interest rate.
    The truth?

Don't do it. Your narcissistic desire for a new car is what got you in this position. Get your credit cleaned up and learn to manage money a little better. Go ahead and drive a used car, it won't kill you.

You're going to pay ridiculously high interest rates for up to five years, wind up paying at least five times what the car would cost you cash, and here's the part that really sucks - these payments will OWN you.

Buy something small, like a $500 stereo, on credit, use 6 or 8 such small purchases over the next 3 years to rebuild your credit score.
You're looking at using a sub-prime or secondary finance comany to carry your loan. Most dealerships have access to them, and the large ones have the best chance to get your app approved (volume).

But you will have to follow some rules to get it (you're considered high-risk, and can't just get whatever you want). The car can only be few years old, only so many miles, only have a price cap. A general example would be 04 or newer with less than 50,000 miles for under $10,000. Doesn't give you much to play with...a typical sub-prime car is a base model Malibu, Grand Am, or Taurus (nothing exciting)

You will also need to provide Proof of Income, Proof of Residence, Proof of Insurance, 10-20% Down Payment...and you may need to wait a few days before you can take the car home while everything processes.

Another option is the Buy-Here-Pay-Here lot...kinda seedy, so-so quality cars, phone-book sized applications, sometimes weekly payments, huge down payments (sometimes 50-75% of the wholesale value of the car), quick repos (some will repo after only 1 late payment)...but you will get a car. They don't use banks and some don't even check credit reports, so they kinda have a large amount of leverage against you...but sometimes it is the only option.

Any advice for a new African Grey owner?

I recently adopted my uncle's African Grey, BaeBae. My uncle has lung cancer and can't take care of him any longer. I'm a huge animal person, so I'm loving having this new guy around! I've never had a bird though... so I'm hoping someone on here could give me a few tips.

I think because of the change he's a little stressed. He's plucked out a bunch of feathers. I read that if you give them showers it helps. I gave him one yesterday, which he seemed to enjoy, but he's still pulcking. Anyone know of a way to help him out?Any advice for a new African Grey owner?
It is wonderful that you are caring for him. Right now he is plucking to relieve the stress he feels about losing his companion/home, and moving to a new one.

Just show him that he can trust you - clean food and water daily, clean cage, toys to play with and most of all your companionship. Just sitting in the same room and talking to him can help relieve some of it. My Greys and I enjoy watching Food Network together.

There are great books and websites that can offer more advice. They are my Parrot Bibles.Any advice for a new African Grey owner?
I didn't get to respond in time - I have a African grey: You need to feed him fruits and veggies - DAILY. Frozen veggies are fine - just heat up. Oatmeal, grains, whole grain sugar free cereal - just remember that seeds should be smallest part of his diet

he is plucking his feathers out of stress and bieng bored they need a lot of attention they are very people oriented and alot like small children

if he keeps plucking his feathers take him to a vet who is familiar with birds because he will pluck all of them out and look like a chicken.

He probable is very stressed out and sad. African Greys are very sensitive and he is probable missing your uncle. Make sure he has lots of toys to keep him busy and active. Baths should help if his skin is dry. Just show him lots of love and attention and you will be rewarded. It may take some time but it is so worth it. Also you can take him to the vet and have him examined, sometime when they pick it is because they are sick, they can also give him a shot that lasts a month and it relaxes them and they won't pick. Good luck! They are great!
I think all the above is right! My parrot was plucking her feathers a while back.......mostly her wing feathers, I took to her to an avarian vet, she had swollowed a little piece of metal, I am not saying that is the case with your bird, but if the plucking persists I would have him checked out by a vet, just in case.

One typ the vet gave me...let the bird be near when you are having your meals. let it him have some titbits from you while you are eating, this is supposed to make them feel more part of the family. Good luck
I am glad to know that your Uncle's companion is getting a great home. The stress will eventually even out. The bird is mourning the loss of his friend, Toys are always needed for birds. I like to buy baby toys, some of the teething things are great for birds to chew on. I also have the ';chains'; hanging from the top of my conure's cage, and he loves to play with them. Good luck with your new friend. Sounds like BaeBae will have a great place to live.
you just have to try help minimilise the stress. Does your uncle have anything that he use to give to the bird like a blanket or a specific toy? your bird will de-stress if he has familiar things and smells around him. Make sure that the bird is in a comfortable place away from loud noises such as washing machines etc. and away from other pets, sunlight, direct heat and away from other people. This will help him settle in and feel more secure in his new environment. It may take a few days for him to stop plucking at himself, ifit carries on for over a week more then i would take him to the vets and get it checked out as it could be self harm. Just make sure that everything is as much the same as it can be. hopes this helps!
hi my advise is that he is stressing because he has had to leave his owner so i would spend as much time as i can with him has he got toys in there with him and does he come out of his cage if not i would get him out and buy some toys for him but spend time with him so he can trust you once he knows you he will be fine just give him time hope this helps and good luck from tracie

Advice on new Shocks / Struts for my firebird / trans am?

Typically I just get whatever is cheapest. But for this I want to get a better product.

What shocks or struts are good? What brands? On ebay I see Bilstein and Gabriel brands.

What is monotube design vs twin tube design?

Do I also need to replace the mounts? What about Sway links?Advice on new Shocks / Struts for my firebird / trans am?
Now when it comes to shocks buy a brand name such as Bilstein, KYB, Koni or any other performance brand if u plan to keep your car a long time. Please don't go for the gabriels since on autozone sells then and I have no idea how well they work. Had a friend once use them and was very dissatisfied with them.

What would you advice to Elect President on New Year day ?

I am sure he would love to receive public opinions and correct him self to be an effective, respectable , good, powerful President , who can bring back our lost images and respect all over the world too.

Advice to diffuse financial crisis, improvement employment market, prevent fraud, bring back troops, stop small wars , get medical aid and whatever he promised to us .

HE IS A GOOD GUY - HE BRINGS HOPE FOR NEW LIFE. TO DAY.

GOOD LUCKWhat would you advice to Elect President on New Year day ?
I would tell him to give more finances to state education. Then people would be able to form a proper question and possibly a sentence or two.

I would tell him to start the draft back up. I mean America has 144,128,690 Americans that are able to serve and only 1,500,000 Americans with enough balls to serve our country and ensure the freedom and democracy that the country stands for. What would you advice to Elect President on New Year day ?
I would advise him to admit that he's in over his head, and a recycling of the Clinton Administration in conjunction with a DEMOCRAT controlled legislature is the last thing this nation needs.

After that he should step down and call upon the country to support an experienced leader in a White House with a bipartisan makeup, and ask someone like Newt Gingrich to step in as President with Biden as VP.

That's the kind of compromise that WORKS for this nation. What we will see after mid-January will NOT WORK, and will take us lower and lower until we finally wake up.
Dear mr. President, make sure you rule the country subject to the guidance of God.. No man on earth has the ability to fix this world's problems. Who can make a collective mind change in this country?

No matter how hard you try, if congress opposes you, nothing will happen. Put God and his wisdom first then your abilities will shine.

    Good luck Mr. president
he should remember his allies just like Bush did He should visit Poland and remember that Polish people and the Polish goverment helped USA and will try to help USA every time its good to have small allies that can enter places the USA Cannot Poland helped the USA negotiate with China back in Regan administration and Polish mediators can still be useful USA inteligence should coperate with the Polish inteligence as we often posses information that might be usefull for the US
I would suggest to back away from any agenda, the liberals try to bring to the table. Continue with the tax breaks, don't raise any taxes. Don't cut military spending...

Socialisim will only run America... No socialized medicine!!!

Don't screw things up like Clinton did!
he better make a ';Change'; or else he's going to have some pretty mad Americans on his hands. Also continue with the border fence. Hey, they already started and have some sections almost finished. Plus, it's providing jobs for people right now.
I would tell him to do the best thing he can for our Country... And that would be to back down from office. He is a liar and a deceiver. He wasn't even born in America. There is no reason that he should have the power to run a country. End of story.
Spend more federal money on public education if this question is any indication.
Please for Gods sake, do yourself, your family and your Nation a good service and quit now.
Govern from the center, don't cave in to far left or far right extremists.
Admit he is not up to the job and resign
    DUCK MUTHA SCRATCHA!
    Quit
just do what he said he would
