What advice would you give to a new story write who would like to publish?

I have got tips from authors and i have been writing for a while, i am studying hard, tips? websites? or advice? :)What advice would you give to a new story write who would like to publish?
Write every single day.

Read. Other books, dos and don'ts, writing articles, etc.

Once you've finished your manuscript, edit it.

Then edit it again.

Then maybe get someone you trust, who knows their stuff, to edit it as well - at the very least for typos becasue they can and will slip by you.

Only once you've finished something should you seek out a publisher/agent (buy the book Writer's Market 2009 for help with this; check out the websites Preditors%26amp;Editors and Writer's Beware [linked below]) because no one's ever interested in a work in progress. While you're on the hunt for that, start writing something else.

Be prepared for rejection. Lots of rejection. It's the process. It's probably a million to one that you'll be accepted by the first publisher or agent you pursue.

Submit, submit, submit.

Should you accomplish all this and sell your manuscript settle in for the waiting game. It becomes about waiting for the contract, waiting for edits, waiting for the galley, waiting to see the finished product, waiting for it to sell, waiting for reviews... well, you get the picture.

Write every day. I can't stress this one enough.

Good luck! What advice would you give to a new story write who would like to publish?
Be persistent, though be patient with it. Guaranteed you won't finish half the story in one night obviously, but you can certainly make a dent. Also when it comes to publishing, don't let any rejections discourage you. I'm not saying your writing is horrible; hell, I haven't even read anything of yours. I'm just saying that sometimes it takes a few tries to get an acceptance from a publisher - so never scrap a story when feeling discouraged. :)

Support from friends, family, or even strangers like you and I, is awesome for motivation as well. Try to find your inspiration, brainstorm as many ideas as possible, and you're set. It's all uphill from here.

Good luck! :)
I've just had a book published - not released yet.

At this age we write to enjoy. Write when you feel like it, the point isn't to finish the book but to enjoy what you write.

It took me about 7 months to write mine, and I enjoyed it so much!

Please don't do it to finish it, do it to enjoy it.

Now, say you've finished it and ENJOYED IT- - - research. I did an insane amount, spending hours at the computer at all the different options, there are millions of options, so, so many.

Send your manuscript to a few agencies but don't get down hearted if they say no. You're still a young writer. Maybe 'self-publish' to boost your confidence. (Google that).

There's so many different kinds, Vanity, Traditional, Self . .. The list goes on and on. Find a bit out for yourself and see what you want to do. Remember to send it off to a few agencies, because if they accept, you will be hugely successful because they will advertise your work to make it sell.

Good Luck! Enjoy!

So have you had any of your work critiqued?

I'd advise you to join a writing site, spend time critiquing others, and get some of your work critiqued too. Studying won't do anything for you unless you are managing to apply the things you are learning about in your own work, and only someone else can tell you that.
A great friend of mine (aka ';A Book';) once told me this: write three pages a day. In 6 months, you'll have three hundred and sixty pages.

Try that one.

Oh, and some tips on getting published: you'd better be a hard ***, because publishers and editors only want what will get them MONEY. So, either write something beautifully original, or go with the flow. The money maker in YA today is vampire and wizard books. Perhaps you could break the ice with a nice mystery series....Catch my drift?

Much love,

Ryan
Know what you are writing. A book that stands out does not always have to be in a popular genre. Sure, it may be marketable, but chances are you will be competing with plenty other writers in that genre too - writers, who may be far better than you.

Map out your publishing plans and be realistic about it.

Learn as much as you can about how the publishing industry really works. Know as much as you can about the different types of publishers, publishing rights, your genre, and the market conditions. The more you know, the less likely you will be taken advantage of when trying to be published.
My advice is this: don't worry about being published. In fact, take that out of the equation. Tell yourself right now that you will never be published. If that ';passion'; just went out, quit right now. People who write only to get published are silly.
Stay inspired and motivated and read and write everyday so your skills adapt. :) That's all I've really got to say.
