Any advice for showering after getting a new arm tattoo?

I just got a moderate sized tattoo on my right arm on Friday.





I know about not getting it overly wet, and keeping my arm away from the direct water flow from the shower.





I'm just wondering how many of you have handled the showering after a tattoo. Do you just keep the tattoo away from direct water flow and that's it, or do you also try to protect it by wrapping something around it?





Ideas and experiences would be appreciated!

Nah babes, you can just shower like normal. I have these here ones on my shoulder and I just took a shower. The only suggestion I would make is to wash it with a REALLY mild soap, instead of bar soap which can be really drying. Say Johnson and Johnsons baby soap, the yellow one.








Towel dry it off asap, and put your ointment on it. Aquaphor is good.....Any advice for showering after getting a new arm tattoo?
You could always try wrapping it in something like saran wrap.





The only catch is that it's dangerous to keep the plastic on it for too long as it could grow bacteria. I would cover the tattoo with gauze or something similar, wrap it in plastic to prevent the water from hitting it directly, shower quickly, and then remove the covering and clean it well.
I hope your tattoo works out. I don't have any tattoos because I am waiting for direct instructions from Ms. Lohan as to what she would like to see on my body.





Incidentally, why the long face in the avatar? All my pajama party friends went home after ';Labor Pains'; was over because they have to ';work'; tomorrow (pshhh!), and I am not sad!

I didn't know getting a tatoo could be so complicated. Remind me not to get one. I was going to suggest anit-bacterial soap, but it sounds like you aren't even supposed to get the thing wet. What if it gets dirty?
i showered normally too and mine was fine, i just rubbed it softly to clean it.
