Thinking about getting a new laptop, could use some advice?

I need to get a laptop for college and general use. I would generally require it for my music, surfing the net, e-mails and stuff. I heard that apple laptops aren't compatible with many softwares and that sony laptops are over-expensive and not very durable then the dell one's are really slow. So kindly help me out and if u don't have a good idea no need to answer or make guesses. Thanks.Thinking about getting a new laptop, could use some advice?
+Apple did have a problem with software at one time. In a Windows-dominant world, most apps were written with PC's in mind. However, Apple has closed the gap pretty much on this. Still, there are a lot of apps out there written for Windows with Apple versions as an afterthought. What most people know Mac's and Apple's for is their reputation with graphics. If you are heavily involved with graphics, then an Apple or Mac is the ONLY computer you should consider.

Dell and HP make the most reliable and dependable laptops on the market. Additionally, they have very good customer service.Thinking about getting a new laptop, could use some advice?
What you've heard about dell laptops isn't true. For apple, they aren't compatible with a lot of windows products, like games and stuff, but should be fine for college. But they are a tad bit expensive, and you'd have a safer bet with a PC, as a Mac has a different interface to get used to. What makes a laptop good isn't necessarily the company, but what's actually in it, like hardware. I have a Dell laptop that is pretty fast and would be great for college, but It's a little old for that. you could even try net books, small laptops that are just for internet and typing, they don't handle games well at all.

Try Dell.com, you can customize your laptop there for what you need. Circut City is not a good bet, they've gone out of buissness in my area, and probably in others too.
most of the things that you've heard isn't correct, dell makes some really great laptops, sony laptops are a bit expensive, never heard that they were unreliable and not durable,hp makes some great laptops,if you do a little homework you should be able to find a great laptop for what you want it to do and the for the money you want to spend
Get a MacBook Pal, They have some good offers for University Students in India. I checked the link http://www.apple.com/in/students/ and it looks pretty promising. Apple computers can run on Mac Os and Windows as well. They come with dual boot system. And there is no issue with the softwares as Apple store has everything.
If you are interested in buying HCL laptops then do let me know.

My brother is working with HCL Infosystems and they have a Employee Referral Scheme this whole month of August through which you can save up to Rs. 5000. I had already ordered one and I will give you the details of you are interested.
