What unconventional advice can you give me regarding interviewing for a new job?

I am looking for a job as an administrative assistant. What unconventional advice can you give me regarding interviewing for a new job?
Let the interviewer know what YOU want from the interview, which is gathering information to decide if the job and the company are what you are looking for.

Ask them about the company culture, the expectations from the job, and of course pay and oppurtunities for promotion and salary increases. Be specific! Do they want you to type letters, schedule appointments, make coffee etc.?? Do you have to know how to use software programs? which ones? I have done tons of temporary clerical work and the requirements vary from company to company ( at one place they wanted me to do benefits enrollment!!)

The best question to ask is, what is a typical day for a person in this position? If you dont like what you hear, smile and say ';thank you';, ';goodbye'; and move on to the next interview. What unconventional advice can you give me regarding interviewing for a new job?
I read and agree with all of the previous answerers.

State clearly what an asset you will be.

Be more than prepared and take every opportunity to outshine everybody else.

My one hint is to be fearless. At some time during your interview this person will say something unintelligent, obtuse or just plain stupid. Politely, not combatively, say, ';No,'; and give back something better than whatever silly statement you had just heard.

'YES' men, or women, go nowhere!
Why does it have to be unconventional? Have your Ps and Qs in order. Be confident%26gt; go in there as if you already had the job and you were just reminding them of how good you are. Tell them why you are such an asset to the company that they would loose money not to hire you. Show them your abilities of taking care of the customer, keeping the office totally organized and making the bosses life alot easier making him look good because you have everything in control and working smoothly....it that enough unconventuality for you...hope it helps.
do NOT be ordinary.

While waitting for a job interview at a ma and pa car dealership I sold 3 cars. When my interview time came I walked into the office with the paperwork for the sales and asked if he would sign them so I can get the keys for the buyers.

Now that wouldnt work for you, but the idea is the same. You MUST set yourself apart from the pack. You know the job you are looking to get, go from there. What can you do better and different from everyone else? Do that.
Ask the person interviewing you what they love about their position or the company. This question turns the conversation into a less formal interview and may relax the interviewer. But you stay professional and don't get to familiar. And don't talk too much. Thank about each question they ask before you speak then be precise and only answer that question. Don't give out too much information.
