Making to trip from Los Angeles to New York in late May for Dodgers Vs Mets. Any advice on everything?

I wanted to see what kind of information I can gather from you wonderful people as far as any travel tips and advice, Any places to stay near Shea Stadium?, What airport is the easiest to deal with in NY? And any other suggestions you can add.... Thank you so much.Making to trip from Los Angeles to New York in late May for Dodgers Vs Mets. Any advice on everything?
LaGuardia is virtually a stone's throw away from Shea (2 miles). You could even see the airplanes fly low from Shea as they are approaching the airport.

There are hotels right across the highway from LaGuardia (Marriott, Crowne Plaza) whereas you can just get a cab from there and should cost you very little. They may even have shuttle service that can get you to Shea.Making to trip from Los Angeles to New York in late May for Dodgers Vs Mets. Any advice on everything?
The only way to fly into LGA from LA is to change planes somewhere.

LGA has a limit of 1500 miles on flights (except that Denver was grandfathered in).

Non-stop flights from LA use JFK (or Newark).
We're going to NYC in July -- most domestic flights go into LaGuardia and it's closer to Manhattan so cab fare would be less. International flights use JFK.
